Frokostmøte med Erik Solheim fredag 27. april

ØKONOMI OG KLIMA

Fredag 27. april inviterer Global Economic Perspectives til frokostmøte med Erik Solheim, som vil snakke om økonomiske og politiske utfordringer relatert til klimaprosessen. Han vil også se nærmere på hvilke konsekvenser eventuelle tiltak (eller mangelen på slike) vil få for verden.

Erik Solheim er tidligere miljøvern- og utviklingsminister og har representert Norge under verdensomspennende klimadebatter.

Møtet finner sted på Karl Borch/Terje Hansen auditorium. Frokost og kaffe serveres fra kl 08:45, og foredraget vil starte kl 09:00. Vi vil være ferdige til kl 10:00.

Møtet er åpent for alle, og vil bli holdt på norsk.

Breakfast meeting with Ingvild Almås

WHY THE WORLD IS POORER THAN WE THINK

Tuesday 17th of April Global Economic Perspectives invites you to a breakfast meeting where Associate Professor at NHH Ingvild Almås will talk about how a new method of measuring income changes the world’s view on income differences, based on her Ph.D. Dissertation “Essays on Economic Inequality”.

Ingvild Almås was pointed out as one of eight “New Year’s comets” by VG last year. This year her Ph.D Dissertation was awarded by Norges Bank as number one in the field of macroeconomics, and her article “International Income Inequality: Measuring PPP Bias by Estimating Engel Curves for Food” is to be published in the prestigious American Economic review.

The meeting will take place in Karl Borch auditorium in the Service building at NHH, and coffee and breakfast is served from 09.00. At the end of the meeting we turn to the audience for questions. We will finish the meeting in time for classes at 10.15.

The meeting is open to all and will be held in English.

Spring Perspectives 2012: The future of Africa - aid or investments?

Wednesday February 29th GEP's annual spring conference will be held at Agnar Sandmo auditorium at NHH(Service building) at 16.15.

Øyvind Eggen(Researcher, NUPI), Villa Kulild(Director General, Norad) and Heidi Berg(Norfund) will talk about challenges and oppurtunities considering investments in a growing Africa. After their talks we open for discussion and questions from the audience.

The conference will be held in English.

There will be pizza and refreshments following the conference.

Corruption meeting, January 26th

Corruption can be a barrier to business. Global Economic Perspectives invites you to take a closer look at issues connected to this topic. Gro Skaaren Fystro, Special Adviser at Transparency International Norway, will talk about challenges facing people entering and managing companies in countries where corruption is severe. Afterwards, two exchange students from Brazil and China will present some issues related to corruption facing their home countries. At the end there will be time for discussion and questions from the audience.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, 26 January at 14:15 in Finn Kydland Auditorium, and will last about and hour. Coffee will be served. See you there!

Morning meeting Thursday October 6th

CHINA INFLATED

Global Economic Perspectives invites you to a morning meeting on China's inflation problem.

With historical aspects as a base, NHH-professor Eirik Vatne will present causes of the increasing inflation in China today and how this may affect the Chinese economy.

The presentation will be held in english.

Thursday October 6th from 09.00-10.00

Karl Borch Auditorium, Service NHH

Coffee - in addition to an excellent speaker - will keep you awake through the meeting.

Global Economic Perspectives (GEP) er en del av Norges Handelshøyskoles Studentforening (NHHS), og arbeider for engasjement for samfunnsøkonomi blant studenter ved Norges Handelshøyskole (NHH) og i Bergen. Organisasjonen er politisk uavhengig og i sin helhet studentdrevet.

Gjennom debatter og konferanser søker GEP å sette fokus på viktige samfunnsspørsmål, og å skape en arena for menings- og kunnskapsutveksling.
