CHINA INFLATED

Global Economic Perspectives invites you to a morning meeting on China's inflation problem.

With historical aspects as a base, NHH-professor Eirik Vatne will present causes of the increasing inflation in China today and how this may affect the Chinese economy.

The presentation will be held in english.

Thursday October 6th from 09.00-10.00

Morning meeting Wednesday 21.9

"UNITED STATES OF EUROPE"

In an interview with the German newspaper Der Spiegel, Gerhard Schröder, former Chancellor of Germany calls for the foundation of the “United States of Europe”, as the euro area faces a severe dept crisis.

Professor Gernot Doppelhofer will give his thoughts on how the European Union is challenged by having a united monetary policy while having separate fiscal policies. Then there will be time for questions from the audience.

The meeting will be held from 09.00 to 10.00 at aud. Karl Borch in the Service building at NHH.


The meeting is open to all and will be held in English.

Foredrag om finansskatt, høstens G20-toppmøte og agendaen for finansiering av globale fellesgoder

FN-organisasjonen UNITAID og GEP i samarbeid med NHH-Aid, inviterer til lunsjmøte med Philippe Douste-Blazy, leder for UNITAID og spesialrådgiver for FNs generalsekretær på innovativ finansiering for utvikling.

Det legges opp foredrag om utsiktene for framgang i arbeidet med nye måter å finansiere internasjonale utviklingsmål og globale fellesgoder. Skatt på finanstransaksjoner er det forslaget som har størst potensial til å reise ressurser av virkelig stor betydning.

Douste-Blazy besøker Norge i anledning lanseringen av en ny bok om hvordan man kan ta skrittet fra forsøkene med solidaritetsskatt på fly til en internasjonal finansskatt. Det handler om tilgangen til globale fellesgoder for alle.
 

Foredraget vil foregå på Agnar Sandemo i Servicebygningen på Norges Handelshøyskole 14.30 torsdag 1. september. Philippe Douste-Blazy vil holde et timelangt foredrag, før det er åpent for spørsmål.

The UN Millennium Development Goals, with NHH Aid

GEP are collaborating with NHH Aid on their Spring conference, Monday 11th of April. The topic of the Spring Conference is “the UN Millennium Development Goals”. We are hoping to draw some attention to these goals and their progress. We are proud to announce that we have Jan Vandermoortele (codeveloper of the Millennium Goals) and the Secretary General of UNICEF Norway, Kjersti Fløgstad as speakers.

FALL PERSPECTIVES 2011: The Future of the American Dream

GEP invites you to the conference FALL PERSPECTIVES 2011: The Future of the American Dream on Wednesday November 2nd at 16.15-18.30 in Jan Mossins Auditorium, Service NHH.

The speakers for the evening are Harald Magnus Andreassen, Chief Economist in First Securities, Terje Erikstad, Financial News Editor of Dagens Næringsliv and Associate Professor at Volda University College, Alf Tomas Tønnesen.

After their presentations we turn to the audience for questions.

The conference is open to all and will be held in English.

Corruption meeting, January 26th

Corruption can be a barrier to business. Global Economic Perspectives invites you to take a closer look at issues connected to this topic. Gro Skaaren Fystro, Special Adviser at Transparency International Norway, will talk about challenges facing people entering and managing companies in countries where corruption is severe. Afterwards, two exchange students from Brazil and China will present some issues related to corruption facing their home countries. At the end there will be time for discussion and questions from the audience.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, 26 January at 14:15 in Finn Kydland Auditorium, and will last about and hour. Coffee will be served. See you there!

Global Economic Perspectives (GEP) er en del av Norges Handelshøyskoles Studentforening (NHHS), og arbeider for engasjement for samfunnsøkonomi blant studenter ved Norges Handelshøyskole (NHH) og i Bergen. Organisasjonen er politisk uavhengig og i sin helhet studentdrevet.

Gjennom debatter og konferanser søker GEP å sette fokus på viktige samfunnsspørsmål, og å skape en arena for menings- og kunnskapsutveksling.
